There’s the media itself (like your TV shows), there’s the actual Plex Media Server that manages your media, and then there are the Plex client applications you access the server from via your Apple TV, your iPhone, or other devices.īecause you aren’t directly browsing the folders that contain your videos, it is critically important that Plex Media Server’s database be up to date. We are working closely with Plex now to get a new PMS that has full Android 11 storage support and cleans up this experience. All of our testing had been complete and the change went unnoticed until launch day. Unfortunately though on January 4th a new version of PMS was launched which changed the reported API level and that broke PMS on SHIELD Experience 9. Plex wasn’t 100% ready for Android 11’s changes but we had it working. We worked closely with Plex during SHIELD Experience 9.0 development to make sure PMS was working and during all of our internal and external beta testing it was working. The root of the issue with Plex Media Server on launch day of 9.0 is related to the changes in Android 11 for Storage.
